A moisture-absorbing doormat mainly takes up damp and keeps your floor dry. These mats are made from soft, absorbent materials such as cotton or polyamide. A dirt-scraping doormat is made from sturdier material and does two things at once: it lifts dirt from under your soles and absorbs moisture as well. Not sure which to choose? For most front doors the dirt-scraping version is the most complete choice, while the moisture-absorbing mat is ideal where damp is the main problem.

For outdoor use, choose a weather-resistant mat that can handle rain and frost, such as a rubber doormat. It lets water through, stays in place and is virtually maintenance-free.

You choose your mat, enter the width and length you need and we cut it exactly to size. Most mats have no pattern direction, so width and length are interchangeable. The average delivery time for a made-to-measure mat is 1 to 3 working days. Please note: mats cut to measure cannot be returned, so do check your measurements carefully.

Measuring up for a doormat is as easy as 1-2-3. Measure all four sides of the spot where the mat will lie, because walls and corners are not always perfectly straight. Then take the maximum length and width, so the mat always fills the space properly. For indoor use we recommend a mat you can take at least two steps on: enough to absorb dirt and moisture. Not quite fitting? Our mats are easy to cut to size with a sharp knife on the back of the mat.

Our mats have an anti-slip backing and stay put on tiles, laminate, vinyl floors and poured floors. Would you like extra certainty that the mat will not shift, for example on a smooth floor? Then you can place an anti-slip underlay beneath it. Always lay the mat on a clean, dry floor.

Almost all our indoor doormats can lie over underfloor heating, but watch two things. The thicker the mat, the more heat it holds back: 6 to 9 mm is fine, while a 17 mm coir mat or a heavy rubber mat insulates. And look at your floor. If you have PVC, vinyl or a poured floor, choose a plasticiser-free mat, because heat speeds up the staining caused by a vinyl backing. On tiles this is not an issue. Not sure? Most of our mats are washable, but always check the specifications on the product page of the item. Wash on a low spin speed, dry the mat flat and remove any loose fluff afterwards. Vacuuming or shaking it out regularly keeps your mat looking good in between washes.
