A coir mat is the classic among doormats: a dense layer of natural coconut fibre yarn that scrapes sand, mud and coarse dirt off shoe soles before it reaches your floor. With us, you don't order that mat in a standard size, but exactly to match your entrance — cut accurate to the millimetre.
That makes the difference in a doormat recess or a recess in the floor. A standard mat leaves open edges where dirt collects and can shift; a custom-size mat fills the space completely and stays put where it belongs. We also cut the mat to your dimensions for a wide front door, an angled corner or a long hallway.
The top consists of 100% natural coir fibre with a thickness of 17 mm, which provides a firm, brushing action. The underside is a sturdy vinyl backing that holds the fibres in place and stops the mat from shifting. Because the mat has no pattern or grain direction, you're welcome to swap the length and width.
In four steps from measurement to a mat that fits perfectly.
Natural, black, brown, blue, red or terracotta. Not sure? Order a colour sample for €5 first.
Measure the width and length of the spot where the mat will go. Measuring a recess? Subtract a few millimetres on all sides, so the mat fits in smoothly.
On the product page, enter your length and width. The price adjusts instantly to your dimensions — so you see straight away what you'll pay.
We cut your mat on our own machine and ship it to you within 1–3 working days.

Order a 10 x 15 cm colour sample for €5 and take your time to view the colour and texture at home, in your own light and against your own floor.
Coir scrapes off coarse dirt and sand; a moisture-absorbing doormat mainly absorbs moisture. For most entrances, the combination works best: coir outside or in the porch, and a moisture-absorbing doormat indoors.

Yes. You enter the length and width yourself, accurate to the millimetre — every mat is cut specially to your dimensions. So you're not limited to standard sizes: a narrow strip for a long hallway, a wide mat for a double front door, or a mat that fits exactly into your doormat recess — it's all possible.
Yes. A coir mat has no pattern or grain direction, so it doesn't matter which measurement you enter as the length and which as the width. Either way, the mat will lie right.
Only in a covered spot, such as under a canopy or in a porch. Coir is a natural product that absorbs moisture and doesn't dry quickly on its own. If the mat is left exposed to wind and weather, the fibre will eventually rot and discolour. Looking for a mat that can handle rain? Take a look at our water-permeable outdoor doormats or brush mats.
A coir mat works like a brush: the stiff fibres scrape sand, mud and coarse dirt from your soles. A moisture-absorbing doormat works like a sponge and mainly absorbs moisture and fine dust. If you really want to do it right, combine them: coir on the outside or in the porch, and a moisture-absorbing doormat right inside.
Measure the spot where the mat will go at two points across the width and two points along the length, and use the smallest measurement. Placing the mat in a recess or doormat recess? Measure the inside of the recess and subtract a few millimetres on each side, so the mat fits in smoothly without bulging. Also check that your door can still clear the mat at a height of 17 mm.
Yes. Our custom-size coir mats are listed as suitable for vinyl floors and poured floors; you'll also find this among the specifications on every product page. Do you have an unusual or recently treated floor and are you still unsure? Send us a message with your floor type, and we'll take a look with you before you order.
We cut the mat cleanly, so the edge stays neat. In the first few weeks a few loose coir fibres may come away — that's part of a natural product and stops on its own. A quick vacuum is enough. Would you like a finished edge? Ask about the options for an edge finish.
Beating it out or vacuuming is enough. A coir mat is not washable and should not be rinsed clean with a garden hose either: wet coir dries poorly and will go mouldy. Remove loose stains with a dry brush. Does the mat fade in the sun? That's also part of its natural character.
With normal household use and a covered spot, a 17 mm coir mat lasts several years. In a heavily used spot — a business entrance or a household with children and dogs — the fibre wears faster. Beating it out regularly extends its lifespan considerably, because it removes the abrasive sand from between the fibres.
Yes. For €5 we'll send you a 10 x 15 cm sample, so you can assess the colour and texture at home next to your own floor and door. That way you're sure the colour is right before you have your mat cut to size.
No. A custom-size mat is cut specially for you and is therefore excluded from the right of withdrawal — we cannot sell it to anyone else. That's why we recommend ordering a colour sample for €5 first and carefully re-checking your measurements. Is something wrong with your order, or did the mat arrive damaged? Get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Your mat is cut specially for you. It usually arrives at your home within 1–3 working days. If you order several mats or an extra-large size, it may take a day longer — you'll always receive a track-and-trace code as soon as your parcel is on its way.
